Ways to work together.

Bring me the programme, the reports and the problem — or your producer’s filming brief.

  • Join your productionCamera operator or self-shooting director, working to your producer’s brief and alongside your country team or local crew.
  • Lead the filmFrom an unresolved brief through story development, fieldwork and filming to the finished film.
  • Inside a programmeEmbedded for a set period, helping staff find and tell the stories in their own work while we make finished pieces together.
  • A film, a future and a conversationDocumentary footage of a real situation, a clearly labelled scenario a few years on, then a facilitated discussion of the choices.

From the brief to the people inside it.

Most of my films have involved close collaboration with NGOs, from commissions for Save the Children and Greenpeace to documentaries including Kidnapped Brides in Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine’s Lost Children.

  1. Understand the work.

I read the programme documents, evaluations and reports, and talk to the people who run the work, before the camera comes out.

  2. Find the way in.

Contributors, access, consent, interview guides, and the detail an audience will remember.

  3. Work with your team.

Film to your producer’s brief, help develop interviews and the story, or lead the film. I work alongside country teams and local crew, and edit in Premiere, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
